What evidence is there that Christian faith can help people change and begin again?

Christians point to people whose faith has led them to leave harmful ways of living, seek forgiveness, repair relationships and begin moving in a better direction.

They also speak from their own experience of the benefits and joy of following Christ: knowing that they are loved by God, learning to love others more deeply and finding a clearer purpose for their lives.

Many believers describe receiving help through prayer, the Bible, Christian community and the Holy Spirit to make changes they had struggled to make alone.

Christians believe that a new beginning is possible because Jesus offers forgiveness for the past and, through his death and resurrection, opens the way to a new life with God.

The evidence Christians give is the repeated experience of people whose faith in Jesus has changed their character, relationships and direction in life, while bringing them love, joy, forgiveness and hope.

They believe that the Holy Spirit works within people, helping them leave the past behind, grow more like Jesus and live in the love of Christ.
