What evidence is there that life has a deeper meaning or purpose?

Christians do not believe that life has a deeper purpose simply because people want it to. Their central evidence is Jesus.

Jesus taught that human beings were created to know and love God, love one another and live in a way that reflects God’s goodness. Christians believe that his resurrection gives them reason to trust what he taught about God, human life and eternal life.

They also point to the lives of people who have been changed by following Jesus and who experience a sense of purpose, guidance and relationship with God through the Holy Spirit.

The central Christian evidence that life has a deeper purpose is the resurrection of Jesus. Christians believe that Jesus rose from the dead, confirming his teaching about God, the purpose of human life and eternal life.

They therefore believe that human life has a purpose given by God: to know him, love him and one another, become more like Jesus and share eternal life with him.
