Take one meaningful step this week

Think of one part of your life that feels neglected or out of step with the person you want to become. It might involve a relationship, an ability you are not using, someone you could help, a private hope you have set aside or the amount of time you give to work, possessions or other people’s expectations.

Choose one small action that you can complete within the next seven days. For example, you could:

  • give thirty minutes to a neglected interest, calling or creative gift
  • begin repairing a relationship through an honest message or apology
  • serve your community, church or another person in a practical way
  • set aside time to pray and learn more about Jesus

Choose the action that feels most closely connected to love, truth, service or the person you genuinely want to become. Put a day and time in your diary so that it becomes a real decision rather than only a good intention.

Before you take the step, you might pray:

“God, help me recognise what truly matters. Show me how to use my life well, and give me the courage to take this next step.”

Christians believe that our purpose is found in knowing God, loving other people and using what we have been given in ways that bring life and goodness to others. Jesus shows us this way of living.

You do not need to discover the complete purpose of your life today. One deliberate step towards love, truth, service or God can reveal more about the direction in which your life should grow.
